Till now, any one can buy an unlimited SMS pack from any provider like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and many others and send unlimited SMS/Day. Personally I use Airtel Unlimited SMS pack which gives me unlimited SMS/month. Though I don't think I ever crossed sending 100/SMS in a day time. Though back in my School days or college days, I guess 100 SMS/day was not a big deal, but thanks to Whats app, BBM, iMessage and now Samsung ChatOn messenger, I mostly rely on GPRS data to send SMS to my friends. Here is a good and bad news for people who are in love with unlimited SMS, TRAI (Telecom regulatory authority of India), is imposing a new rule by next week, which will limit the maximum no. of sending SMS to 100/Sim. In plain word, even if you are using any unlimited SMS pack, you won't be able to send more than 100 SMS in a given day. This new rule will be helpful for users to fight against promotional SMS and specially if you are frustrated with promotion messages even after signing up for, do not disturb service, you might notice a record drop in such messages. This new 100 SMS regulation from TRAI has been one of the most talked topic from last couple of months and in a statement, TRAI notified all telecom provider to implement this rule from 27th September 2011. As a customer, this might not be acceptable for many, as they are paying for the service to enjoy the free unlimited SMS service. Though for Indian users, if you are someone who needs to send more than 100 SMS/day, you can try using Dual Sim phones or you can take help of our FREE SMS archive and find most suitable website for your need: This new PDPS (Per day per sim) rule is going to be happy and sad news for many, I would love to know your opinion on the same. Does 100 SMS/day limit is going to bring any change in the way you use your mobile phone? Would you be moving to whatsapp or any other smart phone integrated messenger, to stay in touch with your friends via text. UPDATE: Looks like TRAI has heard all our hearts and has decided to increase the free SMS limit from 100 to 200. Here's an official statement;
The authority has received representations from some of the service providers and consumers to increase the limit of 100 SMSes per day per SIM. The authority has considered these representations and decided to increase the limit of 100 SMSes per day per SIM to 200 SMSes per day per SIM.
